MBT ET Series Reinforcing Bar Couplers effectively connect reinforcing bars of identical diameters, specifically designed for situations where the bars cannot be rotated, ensuring a reliable and robust joint in tight or restricted construction spaces.
Built to enhance structural integrity and available in sizes ranging from 10mm to 40mm, the MBT ET Series Reinforcing Bar Coupler features a bolted clamp system that securely fastens without the need for threading, ensuring a robust and reliable connection that often surpasses the tensile strength requirements of the rebar it joins. Ideal for modifications and extensions in both new and existing structures, the ET series coupler ensures safety and efficiency, significantly reducing project complexities and labour costs.

The minimum length of handle to limit the force required to shear the bolts to 250N. This is approximately equivalent to lifting 25kg or 56lbs |
Installation Steps
MBT Couplers must be installed correctly to achieve their full working capacity. Each coupler should have the proper number of bolts and two serrated strip saddles positioned inside. Installation must be carried out by appropriately qualified and experienced individuals.
- Initial Setup: Place the coupler onto the rebar end, ensuring it covers half the coupler length, +/- 6mm. Hand-tighten the lock shear bolts to secure the bar and adjust for alignment as necessary
- Insert Second Bar: Slide the opposite rebar end into the coupler until it contacts the first bar. Finger-tighten the remaining bolts and check alignment, adjusting if required.
- Bolt Tightening: Tighten the lock shear bolts using a ratchet wrench, or an electric or pneumatic wrench designed to deliver a steady tightening force. Do not use impact tools. Start from the centre of the coupler, working outward, and partly tighten all bolts initially.
- Final Tightening: Return to the centre of the coupler and fully tighten the bolts towards the ends until the bolt heads shear off. Complete this step for each half of the coupler to ensure a secure connection.
