T8 rebar (also specified as H8) is the smallest-diameter reinforcing bar Next Day Steel holds in stock: an 8mm high-tensile ribbed bar rolled to BS 4449:2005, Grade B500B. Its slim section and deformed surface make it the natural choice for links, stirrups and lighter reinforcement where a heavier bar would simply add cost and weight without benefit. Light and easy to cut and bend on site, it is equally at home in repair work, fixings and fine reinforcement detailing where space is tight.
Typical applications
- Shear links and stirrups in beams and columns
- Starter, dowel and tie bars
- Light ground-floor slabs, footings and kerb foundations
- Crack control, reinforcement detailing and repair work
- Small-scale domestic projects

T8 rebar: frequently asked questions
What is T8 rebar used for?
T8 (8mm) high-tensile rebar is used for shear links, stirrups, tie bars and light reinforcement detailing. The ribbed profile bonds the bar to the concrete so the two work together under load.
What does the T in T8 mean, and is it the same as H8?
The T stands for high-tensile (high-yield) steel. T8, H8 and 8mm rebar all describe the same bar: Grade B500B deformed reinforcing bar to BS 4449:2005 with a 8mm nominal diameter.
How much does a T8 bar weigh?
A 3m T8 bar weighs 1.3 kg, and A 6m T8 bar weighs 2.6 kg. Nominal mass for 8mm bar is shown in the comparison table above.
How much does 8mm rebar cost?
T8 rebar starts from £3.51 + VAT per bar, with current per-length prices shown above. Bulk-buy discounts apply automatically as weight is added to the cart, and cut and bent shapes are priced from your bending schedule.
What standard is T8 rebar manufactured to?
Our 8mm bar is Grade B500B high-tensile ribbed rebar to BS 4449:2005, CARES approved with full mill traceability. (Reinforcement is certified through the CARES scheme rather than CE marking, as EN 10080 is not a harmonised standard.)
