Solseal HP Emulsion / Primer is a solvent-free rubber-modified bituminous emulsion by Solco, formulated as a primer or damp-proof coating to bond and prepare porous and slightly humid substrates. Once dried, it forms a tough, elastic, waterproof film, ideal for use under Solsheet membranes or where slight substrate movement might occur. Perfect for both Groundworks / Gas Venting & DPM applications, offering a reliable base for long-term waterproofing membrane performance.

Key Features
-
Solvent-free rubber-modified bitumen emulsion: safer handling, lower fumes.
-
Excellent adhesion, even to slightly humid or porous surfaces including concrete, mortar, ceramic surfaces.
-
Maintains flexibility down to approx -10 °C; remains elastic after curing, reducing risks of cracking under substrate movement.
-
Coverage: approx 1.5 m² per litre (floors, per coat); 2.0 m² per litre (walls, per coat) depending on surface porosity. Comes in 10 L tins (other sizes available).
-
Highly durable, easy to apply by brush, roller or spray; ideal primer for Solsheet GR & Solsheet SAM membranes.
FAQ
Why use a primer under gas or waterproof membranes?
Primers enhance adhesion of the membrane to the substrate, seal pores, even out surface absorption, and improve long-term durability & performance of the membrane system.
Can Solseal HP be applied to slightly damp surfaces?
Yes – it can be used on surfaces that are slightly humid, though strongly damp or wet surfaces will reduce adhesion. Proper priming is essential.
How many coats do I need?
Generally one full-coat for membranes, but on very absorbent or uneven surfaces two coats may be beneficial. Always follow manufacturer’s guidance.
Can I use it outdoors or exposed?
It is used under membranes, or in protected environments. After curing, it resists weathering, but should not be left exposed to long term UV or severe weather without cover.
