T16 Rebar - 16mm High Tensile Reinforcement Bar
Alternative Names: T16 Rebar, H16 Rebar, 16mm Rebar, 16mm Reinforcement Bar, 16mm Steel Bar, 16mm Reinforcing Bar, Reinforcing Steel, Steel Reinforcing Bar, High Tensile Rebar, High Tensile Steel Bar, Deformed Bar, Ribbed Bar, Ribbed Steel Bar, Concrete Reinforcing Bar, Groundworks Steel, Steel Rod, Straight Bar, Stock Bar, Ground Beam Steel, Foundation Bar, Beam Reinforcement Bar, Column Bar, Structural Rebar, BS4449 Rebar, CARES Approved Rebar
Stepping up to structural duty, T16 rebar (also specified as H16) is a 16mm high-tensile bar to BS 4449:2005, Grade B500B. It is the first diameter most engineers reach for when loads call for more than a 12mm section, yet it remains practical to bend and fix on site. The extra section over a T12 gives a useful jump in load capacity while the bar is still straightforward to lap and tie.
Typical applications
- Main bars in beams and columns
- Suspended slabs and heavier ground slabs
- Retaining walls and pile caps
- Lintels and heavily loaded ground beams
- Heavier footings

T16 rebar: frequently asked questions
What is T16 rebar used for?
T16 (16mm) high-tensile rebar is used for main bars in beams and columns, suspended slabs, pile caps and retaining walls. The ribbed profile bonds the bar to the concrete so the two work together under load.
What does the T in T16 mean, and is it the same as H16?
The T stands for high-tensile (high-yield) steel. T16, H16 and 16mm rebar all describe the same bar: Grade B500B deformed reinforcing bar to BS 4449:2005 with a 16mm nominal diameter.
How much does a T16 bar weigh?
A 3m T16 bar weighs 4.74 kg, and A 6m T16 bar weighs 9.47 kg. Nominal mass for 16mm bar is shown in the comparison table above.
How much does 16mm rebar cost?
T16 rebar starts from £7.11 + VAT per bar, with current per-length prices shown above. Bulk-buy discounts apply automatically as weight is added to the cart, and cut and bent shapes are priced from your bending schedule.
What standard is T16 rebar manufactured to?
Our 16mm bar is Grade B500B high-tensile ribbed rebar to BS 4449:2005, CARES approved with full mill traceability. (Reinforcement is certified through the CARES scheme rather than CE marking, as EN 10080 is not a harmonised standard.)
